Philosophy
Turner + Turner is a collaboration between Neil and Suellen Turner. They aim to inspire a more sustainable way of living, providing an alternative to plastic and short life cycle homewares. Neil and Suellen hope to enrich your everyday moments with the timeless beauty of timber: display a Spring bud from your garden, collect a bounty of fresh produce, gather loved ones to share a nourishing meal.
Each Turner + Turner product is handcrafted using sustainably sourced timber in South-Western Australia. Each piece tells a story and is designed to be enjoyed every day.
OUR STORY
A Collaboration
Turner + Turner is a family collaboration between Neil + Suellen Turner. Neil and Suellen raised five children on a farm in outback Western Australia. Working the land was hard, and woodturning was Neil’s way of winding down at the end of a long day. Suellen always supported Neil and his passion for woodturning, encouraging him to submit his pieces to galleries and exhibitions.
Neil and Suellen now live by the sea in Western Australia’s Southwest. They have each committed themselves full time to their creative pursuits: Neil to woodturning, Suellen to photography.
Neil’s sculptures and furniture have been exhibited both locally and internationally, earning him a reputation for fine craftsmanship and expression. However, he and Suellen saw a need for beautiful, everyday objects crafted from sustainably sourced timber.
Together they have created a range of timber homewares, drawing on the past history of the craft and richness of the material. These are heirloom pieces that last generations.
Neil Turner, the artisan behind Turner + Turner, also creates and sells timber sculptures and art pieces. The teaser below is from a film that was selected for the Real to Reel Craft Film Festival in London 2019, and tells the story of his work for both Turner + Turner and his art pieces.
